An arrestee being treated for a gun shot wound tried to flee from the hospital Wednesday afternoon, but made it only feet from his bed. He was discovered trapped in a wall, and was taken back into custody.
The unnamed man was being tended to at St John’s Hospital on the city’s east side.
At about 12:30 p.m. this afternoon the prisoner made his misbegotten move. He got out of bed, went into the bathroom, and squirmed upward by moving a ceiling tile.
Things quickly went south for him. He got stuck inside the wall between the bathroom and his room.
In the meantime, police had evacuated nearby areas. But it was not long before they found and recaptured their prisoner.
Police were mum about why the man was initially arrested or why he was in the hospital.
But WDIV-4 claims the man was a sex crimes suspect. It further claimed he had been shot by police as he was being arrested in a sting operation.
