Downtown Palatine Street Fest is being held this weekend, Aug. 23-24-25, 2013, in Palatine, in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago. The large community event offers fun, food, music, entertainment and activities for the entire family. Admission to the popular street festival is free.
Some of the festival's highlights include Cyclefest by Bike Palatine, Bingo, FeetFest 3K run/walk and the Sweet Pea Pet Parade. A lineup of popular bands keeps the beat moving throughout the festival. Local restaurants offer a good variety of cuisine, including ribs, tacos, burgers, sandwiches, Thai food, Chinese food, chocolate, pizza and more.

Tour of Palatine Cyclefest is on Sat., starting at 9 a.m., at Towne Square (Smith and Slade Streets) CycleFest offers a casual ride (7, 14, or 21 miles) through the streets and paths of Palatine to raise money for improvements needed as outlined on the bike plan. Helmets are required for all riders.
Outdoor Community Bingo is held at the Palatine Legion Post on Sat. from 11 a.m. - 6 p.m.
The FeetFest 3K run/walk on Sun. starts at 8:30 a.m. Race day registration begins at 7:30 a.m. at Towne Square (Smith and Slade Streets) from 7:30-8:15 a.m.
Pet lovers can include their pets in the fun with the Sweet Pea Pet Parade on Sun.. The parade lines up at the Towne Square Gazebo (Palatine Rd. & Smith Street) between 10:45-11:15 a.m. for an 11:30 a.m. start. Pre-register online for a paddle with your pet's name to participate.
Mariano's Kids Zone offers activities for children on Sat.(11 a.m.- 8 p.m.) and Sun. (11 a.m. - 6 p.m.). Ralph Covert of Ralph's World will be at Kids Zone on Sat. at 3 p.m. Special highlights include Jesse White Tumblers, Traveling World of Reptiles, The Asylum Skatepark demonstration, Mad Science, Dimensions of Dance and Martial Arts. Kids Zone wristbands can be purchased at Marianos at 545 N. Hicks Road in Palatine.
The Fri. band lineup includes Old School, Purple Apple pop quartet (6:30 p.m.), Dot Dot Dot pop/rock (8 p.m.) and Sixteen Candles '80s music (10 p.m.)
The Sat. band lineup includes Brother Tim, Lakeshore Vibe, Rock Candy pop/rock (5:30 p.m.), Wedding Banned (7:30 p.m.) and Cherry Poppin’ Daddies jazz swing band (10 p.m.).
The Sun. band lineup includes Serendipity (1 p.m.), 7th Heaven pop/rock (4 p.m.) and BritBeat Beatles tribute band (6 p.m).
The festival runs Fri. 5 p.m. - Midnight, Sat. 11 a.m. - Midnight and Sun.11 a.m. - 8 p.m.
