Something that should become a staple of any Angeleno's art experience is the Downtown LA Art Walk. A celebration of art of all kinds, the Art Walk provides art lovers a chance to stroll through the ever-growing, up-and-coming downtown of Los Angeles.
But its not just the artists and galleries that should draw you. Local restaurants and businesses make it a point to take part in the festivities, welcoming and introducing Art Walk goers to a variety of local flair. In particular, the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank featured a very unique display of LA's charity during the Art Walk this last month in an event called CANstruction LA. Local architects and construction firms came together to create structures completely out of nonperishable items, items that the Food Bank typically distributes to hungry families around LA. The structures were inspired by themes or structures around the Los Angeles area. For example, RBB Architects Inc. channeled the Encounter Restaurant & Bar at LAX, building "The LAX EnCANter Restaurant" that was as inventive as it was impressive.
The Downtown LA Art Walk takes place on the 2nd Thursday of every month. Typically, most activities take place in the galleries on Spring and Main streets between 2nd and 9th streets. For more information, visit the Downtown LA Art Walk website here.
