The Downtown Arts Alliance will be hosting the bi-monthly Downtown Gallery Crawl on Thursday, April 1, 2010 in Monroe and West Monroe, La. The event is from 5 until 9 pm and is free to all. Local, regional and nationally acclaimed artist of all mediums will be exhibiting. Downtown restaurants and bars will also participate with their own exhibits.
Participating galleries in no particular order are:
The Becton Gallery (130 North 2nd St., downtown Monroe) will be featuring original works of art from Polly Spence, and Margaret Becton and guest artist Anya Lincoln-Dunn.
Upstairs (135 N. Second St., Monroe) will be featuring artist Anne Greenwood. Also showing will be Jason Byron Nelson, Anna Schriefer, Liza Kidd and Emily Caldwell.
The Mystic (137 N. 2nd St, Downtown Monroe) will be featuring owner/artist Andrea May, Megan McClanahan and Shanna Angelloz.
The Sugar Gallery (135 N. Second St., Monroe) will feature Damon Adcock, Lou Davenport Kavanaugh, Diane Rosenburg , Otis Lee Tugwell IV and Adam Davenport..
Livaudais Studio (122 South Grand St.) will feature fine art photography of Frank Hamrick.
Ouachita River Art Gallery (308 Trenton St., West Monroe) will feature Rita Mann. Ouachita River Art Gallery is a non-profit co-op of 29 local and regional artists.
Arender Studio and Gallery (131 N. 2nd St, Monroe) will feature photographer Kate Sartor Hilburn.
CASA (Special Guest Exhibit in Aubrey Hall above the Becton Gallery) April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and in 2009, 42 Louisiana children lost their life due to abuse or neglect. Local photographers are helping to bring awareness to the community about child abuse.
