Downton Abbey: Tom Cullen new love interest for Lady Mary in Season Four

Actor Tom Cullen confirmed today he will be joining the cast of Downton Abbey for Season Four, according to the PBS website. The Welsh actor will be the new love interest for Lady Mary Cawley whose husband Matthew Crawley was killed in a car wreck in the closing scene of Season Three.

He will play the role of Lord Anthony Gillingham, an old family friend of the Crawleys.

One woman in Texas who was angered by the decision to kill Matthew, who was played by Dan Stevens, says she will wait until the first episode of Season Four to determine if she will continue watching the series.

"I think it was great that Matthew Crawley was not from the aristocracy. That was part of the charm of his character. I'm not going to like it if they have Lady Mary get involved with someone else real soon after Matthew's death, " said Melanie Cline of North Texas.

Actor Dan Stevens, who played Matthew Crawley, left the show at the end of Season Three to star in a movie involving Wikileaks founder Julian Assange.

Cline was also irritated that both Matthew Crawley and Lady Sybil were killed off immediately after the birth of their children. She said she thought it was getting repetitive in these two instances.

The Downton Abbey online website provided a picture of Lady Mary and Baby George from Season Four.

Cullen tweeted on his Twitter account on March 3 that, "I start on Downton Abbey this month."

His profile on Twitter says he is "Bumping around the world having lots of fun. Partly Actor. Wannabe Gypsy. Cardiff."

Culllen has been nominated as British actor of the year by the London Film Critics Circle.

He also tweeted he has two movies coming out this year.
