The Crawleys are back! On Saturday, August 31 People.com posted the new trailer for the upcoming season of "Downton Abbey," the critically acclaimed period drama that follows a wealthy family through the turn of the twenty-first century. The popular British television drama won't air season four in the United States until next year, and recently finished production overseas. "Downton Abbey" will begin airing on PBS on January 5.
The trailer is just one minute long and focuses mainly on the grief of Lady Mary after the events of the season three finale. The loss of Matthew Crawley will change the future of Downton forever, and the Mary has a difficult time finding the will to live. The Dowager Countess of Grantham gives Mary some important advice, and there are several other shots of Mary looking miserable or crying. Several months have passed and both Mary's son and Tom Branson's daughter have grown.
A bunch of new characters will be introduced in the new season, including the first African-American servant to appear on the show. tom and maybe even Mary will be given new love interests. Although Mary just lost her husband, she was introduced to Matthew as a potential husband in season one. New guests will arrive to stay at Downton and stir up even more drama for everyone. Anna and Bates seem to be going through some trouble, as both of them seem unhappy or uncertain in several glimpses.
