WETA Television was the ratings winner in the D.C. market with the premiere of "Downton Abbey" Season 4 on Sunday, January 5. WETA TV 26/ WETA HD earned a 7.6/12 and had the biggest TV number in the Washington market across all network stations Overall 'Downton Abbey' received a warm welcome in the States, attracting a record 10.2 million viewers for its fourth-season premiere on PBS and beating its ratings record.
In December 2013, an audience of more than 800 WETA Members attended an exclusive advanced screening of the first hour of Downton Abbey Season 4 on Masterpiece. WETA President and CEO Sharon Percy Rockefeller hosted the event and Sir Peter Westmacott, British Ambassador to the United States, made opening remarks. All gifts were donated to The National Center for Children and Families and HOPE in Northern Virginia, Inc. on behalf of all WETA supporters.
There are seven more episodes of Downton Abbey that will air Sunday nights at 9 p.m. Downton Abbey Season 4 Encores Fridays at 8:30 pm on WETA TV 26/ WETA HD and Wednesdays at 9 p.m. on WETA UK starting January 8. It also encores also Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at noon on WETA UK.
