'Downton Abbey' returns with season 4 premiere

Fans of “Downton Abbey” can begin to breathe again as the premiere of season 4 is just days away. According to Tulsa World on Jan. 2, the show is going to be packed with suspense and drama – as we’ve come to expect. Here is a brief rundown of what to watch for in the 2-hour premiere.

The Crawley family and its staff return but to a world somewhat changed. One character is dead and another has gone missing. The recently formed alliance between Branson and Matthew, who is now dead, is kaput and so, too are the vision he held for the Abbey’s future. Death taxes must be paid. Mary is so grief-stricken she can barely stand to hold her baby.

We will meet a few new cast members while the returning ones discover life will never be the same. We are going to be shocked by a vicious crime as life in the Abbey moves on.

The Master Piece Theater series will return Sunday, Jan. 5. Tune in for the season premiere of “Downton Abbey” at 9 p.m. on PBS.
