Down 17, Butler Rallies Back to Beat Gardner Webb

Indianapolis (IN) - There are some games that are a tale of two halves and Butler just had one of them.

Butler (3-2) trailed by as many as 17 points, but fought back to beat Gardner Webb (2-4) 68-66.

Chrishawn Hopkins led Butler with a game-high 22 points on 7-of-14 from the field including 2-of-4 from beyond the arc.

Gardner Webb came out hot from the field hitting on all cylinders from the floor. The Bulldogs ran out to a 50-35 lead at the break.

Brad Stevens was visibly angry on the sidelines. He had his team motivated coming out of the break.

Butler used better defense in the 2nd half and Gardner Webb's shooting cooled off as Butler made a run.

Mike Byron led Gardner Webb with 16 points.

After struggling in the 1st half, Butler outscored Gardner Webb 33-16 in the 2nd half.

Chase Stigall added 14 points and Andrew Smith had 11 for Butler.

Butler now faces Indiana (5-0) on Sunday night at 7PM EST on the Big Ten Network.
