D. Evans

Doug Evans, one of the great fighters to represent Alaska. Supported by his family, wife Heather and two sons Urijah and Isaiah. Runs with the Wolfpack out of Anchorage Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Believes in himself and his purpose.

“I’m expecting a five round barnburner with my hand raised at the end. If I can finish early I’ll definitely take it. I can’t guarantee a victory but I can guarantee that I will give one-hundred and ten percent in this fight, although I’m very confident I'll be returning home with my belt.”

Evans spoke about his delayed title defense for the AFC possibly leading him to accept the fight in Texas. “This fight was a huge opportunity to fight a very tough opponent. It had nothing to do with the AFC although I want to stay very active and I'm looking for a return back in Alaska.”

The match will be against a British fighter who some say is top shelf material. “Ronnie Mann from the UK. He's the #1 ranked fighter out of the UK. He's a very tough opponent. I think we match up perfectly. While I'll have the range I believe our hands, wrestling, and jiu-jitsu match up really well.”

How has training been going? “Training for this fight is great. I was told that I was fighting in Anchorage in August so I was preparing for that but with all the extra notice for this one. I stepped it up and I'm getting ready for this one. The extra notice was great cause this fight is 5 five-minute rounds and I'm preparing for the full 25 minutes.”

Who has your back in this one? “I'll have Sean Hedrick and Frank Watts there in my corner so I'm confident with my corner team.”

All business in Texas or will you take time to enjoy yourself? “As much as I like Amarillo, this trip is all business. I'll go down a day before weigh ins and come back the day after the fight. The only good part about this trip is that my wife will come down with me this time. Her support means a lot to me.”
