The LangeTwins Family Winery has two excellent accompaniments for quiet summer evenings and sun splashed days.
“At our winery we know summer is near when our winery dogs get the itch to be outside as much as possible,’ said Kendra Lange. “And, we agree. Our family has worked and played on this land for five generations. Warmer weather means strolls through the vineyard and patio dinner with a chilled glass of refreshing wine.”
The two varietals – 2013 sauvignon blanc and 2013 sangiovese rose – benefitted from a nearly perfect growing season that allowed the fruit to develop intense, bright flavors.
The sauvignon blanc selection ($13) is a crisp, clean selection from the Lodi Appellation.
Aromas of minerality and lime zest awaken the senses followed by an avalanche of green apple, crisp citrus and kiwi flavors.
Pour this slightly chilled with grilled shrimp and avocado and heirloom tomato salad.
Vibrant with flamboyant pink hues, the sangiovese rose ($15) is seductive with wild strawberry aromas and a touch of sophistication. Slightly tart on the palate, this exceptional wine is zesty with juicy bright red fruit flavors.
Serve both of these with a LangeTwins’ recommendation: a “Fresh Basil Golden Corn Salad” with cherry tomatoes, arugula, small red potatoes, seasonings and goat cheese.
