Double triumph for the Latin music industry

¡Q’Viva! The Chosen racks top ratings and a Latin artist to receive a prestigious award. ¡Q’Viva! The Chosen, a documentary journey that celebrates music, performance art and the extraordinary Latin culture for a future spectacular to partake in Las Vegas, premiered on Univision this past Saturday was watched by 2.2 million viewers, according to Nielsen estimates. The show starring Marc Anthony, Jennifer Lopez and Jamie King caused a 37% increase of what the network has averaged the past three Saturday nights. ¡Q’Viva! The Chosen is transmitted in three languages – English, Spanish and Portuguese – and shown in 21 countries with about 12 episodes yet to be televised every Saturday on Univision. Fox possibly will also join in on the transmission.

As for Marc Anthony having a successful start with ¡Q’Viva! The Chosen, he will be this years Latin artist to receive the ASCAP Founders Award for his inspirational and influential contributions in the music industry. Marc is the second Latino to be the recipient of the prestigious award and recognition. The first was Ruben Blades in 2005. Marc songwriter, singer, producer, actor and humanitarian will be honored at ASCAP’s 20th annual Latin Music Awards on Tuesday, March 20 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles. The black tie gala will also recognize the songwriter of the year, publisher of the year, independent publisher of the year and Latin song of the year. Awards will also be presented in the Pop, Tropical, Regional Mexican, Urban, and Television categories. (continues after ad)
