Cook County Forest Preserve Police report the bodies of a mother and daughter were found inside a trunk of a burning car near Cap Sauers Holdings Nature Preserve, in Palos Park Saturday, September 21, 2013. The victims have not been identified as of this report.
CBS 2 reports police aren't releasing many details about the victims except to say they believe the mother is in her 70's and the daughter in her 50's. The burned out vehicle has been identified as a PT Cruiser parked in the 11600 block of South Ford Road.
CBS 2 interviewed Palos Park resident John Muraska who frequents the park regularly. “For something like this – where there are two people, apparently, that were burned in a car – that is shocking; very much so,” Muraska said. “It's a quiet area. It's well patrolled. This is very unusual to have something like this.”
The two women are believed to be from Chicago. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office reports the women were strangled before being set on fire.
