Sega and Double Fine Productions announced the release date Tuesday for "The Cave" on the PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii U. Adventure gamers can go spelunking as soon as next week.
"The Cave" will be available on Tuesday, Jan. 22 via the Playstation Network for the PS3 and eShop for the Wii U at a cost of $14.99. Xbox 360 owners will be able to purchase the title for 1200 MS Points and Steam subscribers for $14.99 on Wednesday, Jan. 23,
Created by Ron Gilbert, the same man responsible for "Monkey Island", "The Cave" has players put together a team of three uniquely off-kilter characters from a selection of seven to explore the depths and wonders of a magical talking cave. The game is presented as a 2D platformer as the trio of characters unlocks more areas "Metroid-vania" style by collecting items. However, some areas of "The Cave" are only accessible by certain characters.
"The Cave" is primarily a single-player game but it does support offline co-op for up to three people on the same console or PC.
