Billed as the world’s only dual cask aged rum, this spirit is first rested for five years in American oak casks at its place of origin in Guyana and Barbados. Then it is shipped to Williams and Humbert’s installations in Jerez, Spain where the rum is aged for another three years in casks that have previously held the internationally renowned Dos Cortados palo cortado sherry (aged for 20 years, as certified by the Jerez-Xérès-Sherry Regulatory Council).

This two-stage process produces old rum of unique characteristics. The color is rust and copper with a light to medium body that produces swift legs in a tasting glass. The aromas of oak, vanilla and sherry notes lead to a warm, dry compliment of dried fruits and spices, smokey burnt caramel and brandy. The finish is warm and smooth.

Dos Maderas 5+3 aged rum is ideally suited to being enjoyed neat or on the rocks and pairs well with medium bodied cigars.

The company is well known for their solera systems, outstanding brandies, wines and sherries. The history of Bodegas Williams and Humbert goes back nearly 130 years. They participated in the creation of the Jerez-Xérès-Brandy Quality Demarcation and are now considered to be one of the world’s most prestigious wine producers.

The winery was founded in 1877 by Sir Alexander Williams, a great admirer and connoisseur of sherry products, and Arthur Humbert, a specialist in international relations.

Williams and Humbert also produce the noted Dos Maderas PX and Ron Malabar rums.
