'Dorothy of Oz' coming to theaters in 2013

With the release of “Oz: The Great and Powerful,” we see another side of the Wizard of Oz tale on the silver screen. "Oz: The Great and Powerful" shows viewers the story as seen through the eyes of Oz. Now, we have the story of Dorothy, after she arrives back home and the events that happen after she finds her town destroyed by the tornado in “Dorothy of Oz.”

“Dorothy of Oz” is an animated family comedy-fantasy that takes us to Kansas upon Dorothy’s return from her adventures in Oz. Her shocking discovery of how Kansas has been torn up by the tornado that took her to Oz in the first place does not last long. Before she can take a deep breath, she is whisked back to Oz.

Dorothy is shocked to find her three friends have disappeared. The Scarecrow, Lion and Tin Man are nowhere to be found. She happens upon a man who is very charming but made of marshmallows, a tiny china doll that loves to take control and boss everyone around and a tugboat that is host to several different personalities.

"Dorothy of Oz" is an animated tale of how Dorothy and her new found friends return Oz to the way it was. Dorothy needs to locate the Tin Man, The Scarecrow and the Cowardly Lion before it's too late.

For now, there is no release date available.

The movie is in the post-production stage. The filming is complete, the sound edited and the effects with music are complete. We now need a release time to get the show on the road or the screen as the case may be.

Cast: Dan Aykroyd as the Scarecrow, James Belushi as the Cowardly Lion, Martin Short as the Jester, Kelsey Grammer as The Tin Man, Lea Michele as Dorothy and Oliver Platt as Wiser the Owl.

“ Dorothy of Oz” is produced by Summertime Entertainment. The movie will be in 3D animation. Roger Stanton Baum, the great grandson of L. Frank Baum, who wrote the original “Wonderful Wizard of Oz” book, bases “Dorothy of Oz” upon the book “Dorothy of Oz.”
