Dorothy Hamill has become the third figure skater to make it onto the popular reality television show, Dancing with the Stars. Kristi Yamaguchi competed once before and won her season while Evan Lysacek competed in season 10 to only come in second. Hamill will be dancing with professional dancer Tristan MacManus who has danced with other older females including Nancy Grace, Gladys Knight, and Pamela Anderson.
Olympic Gold Medalist, Dorothy Hamill has continued to skate professionally in Stars on Ice, but dancing on DWTS will be a complete switch for her. At age 56, Hamill is venturing out in new areas and will make viewers talk about her once again. Hamill will compete against other performers such as country singer Wynonna Judd, actor D.L. Hughley, and Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman.
Once her DWTS days are finished with, Hamill will continue to skate in the Stars on Ice show where there many other skaters performing. Canadian Joannie Rochette, Canadian Kurt Browning, Russian Ekaterina Gordeeva, and Russian Ilia Kulik are some of the professional performers that will be skating alongside Hamill in the show. The show was started by Scott Hamilton who gave a portal for all of the professional skaters, young and old to gather together to perform for audiences around the world. It has been successful for 27 years, since it started back in 1986 and continues on today with tickets costing about $25 a seat
