Dorothea Puente was an elderly female landlady who stole her tenants money and social security checks. She is mostly known for the boarding house murders that occurred at her Sacramento home in California during the 1980's. Serial killer Dorothy Puente is now deceased.
Dorothea Puente offered room and board to people who needed a place to stay in the 1980's. She was known as a very sweet older woman who cooked wonderful meals for her tenants. Dorotha's boarding home was very popular among the locals. The problem was that many of her tenants were never seen or heard from again. A police investigation revealed that Dorothea's charming personality was actually a facade. According to those who knew her well, she was really a mean and nasty woman who often did not allow her tenants access to their own money or their own mail.
Police say that her goal was to lure tenants into her home under the guise of kindness, so that she could steal their money and kill them. Troubled and wayward people were often referred to her home due to her kind reputation.
In 1988, Puente became the focus of a police investigation after they received complaints regarding a stench coming from her home and the disappearance of a local handy man who had been living at the Puente boarding house. A total of seven bodies were found buried in her backyard.
Dorothea Puente was eventually convicted of nine murders and sentenced to two life terms in prison. Puente died in prison in 2011 at age 82. Her case has been the subject of several crime documentaries, including Investigation Discovery's "Deadly Women."
Dorothea's boarding house address was 1426 F Street. In 2012, the new tenants reported having very little paranormal activity in the home, and that most activity had stopped completely following the death of Dorothea Puente in 2011.
