For those who don’t watch football there is one classic reason to watch it at least once every 12 months on a Sunday, the super bowl commercials. People often watch in anticipation of something to be wowed about.
Historically advertisers strategically design commercials that will entice viewers to purchase products and or services. Last year during super bowl Sunday a Doritos commercial did anything but appear appetizing.
First scene……
Two men appear to be in a break room they are sitting at a table, one of the men is eating Doritos as the other man intensely watches and smells. The Doritos eating man finishes his bag while the other man impulsively sucks the cheese off of his finger.
Second scene……
A man is eating a bag of Doritos at work when he decides to wipe the cheese from his hand onto his pant leg. Seconds later the Doritos cheese crazy man from the break room appears. He snatches the pants off the man and holds the cheese stained pants to his face.
Needless to say after watching this commercial the last thing I thought about was eating a bag of Doritos. The cheese crazed man seems just a bit over the top. Of course this Doritos commercial was suppose to appear irresistible to consumers, the question is was this super bowl commercial profitable for the Doritos Brand.
