BANGOR--- Pariba L.L., Willemstad, Curacao outscored opponents 26-3 in going 5-0 during the Latin American regional.

The three weeks off in between their regional and the opener of the Senior League World Series didn't slow down Pariba.

Joshmer Doran allowed four hits in 6.2 innings shutout innings to lead Pariba to a 7-0 victory over Western L.L., Grand Rapids, Michigan on Sunday afternoon.

"We had no baseball for three weeks,"Pariba manager Ernst Meyer said. "Today it was good for the team to pick it up. I see my team today play the baseball that I like, they run, they hit the ball, they understand the coaching signs."

Jerson Dometilla got the scoring started when he hit a single that drove home two runs with the bases loaded during the bottom of the second inning. Pariba added three more runs during the inning.

"That was the big inning. They hit a couple of balls hard. They seemed to find the holes,"Grand Rapids manager said. "My pitcher was throwing well, he got a little rattled."

Raysheandall Michel and Browensly Klaber each hit a run scoring single during the fourth inning. Riordan Windster got the rally started when he put down a perfect bunt down the third base line.

Doran struck out five and did not allow a walk. He threw 81 pitches/56 strikes. He induced 12 ground ball outs. The Pariba infield defense of Windster at second base, Zaino Henriquez at shortstop, and Swindly Lint at third base made life easy for Doran.

"My fastball was working great today, my change up too. My curveball didn't work as I would like,"Doran said. "Our defense is real good. You can pitch better when you have good defense behind you."

Meyer has helped coach Andruw Jones who hit 424 career major league home runs, former University of Maine standout Curt Smith, and Jonathan Schoop who currently has nine home runs for the American East leading Baltimore Orioles. Meyer's biggest thrill is making a trip with his Senior League team to Bangor, Maine.

"This was my greatest thing before I leave baseball to come over here to Bangor,"Meyer said. "I like the field, I like the people, I like the country, it is a great feeling."

Pariba will get to enjoy Eastern Maine on Monday as they have the day off from play at the World Series. They will next play on Tuesday afternoon at 5 p.m. against Edgewood L.L., Bristol, Connecticut.

Christian Falicki had two of the four hits for Grand Rapids. They will next play on Monday evening at 8 p.m. against West University L.L., Houston, Texas. Click here for photos from this game.
