Helen Clare

I’ve got some very interesting Doors notes for you today, it’s a varied bag but I think you’ll dig it.

Robby Krieger Charity Appearances

Last week Robby appeared at the Patrick Warburton Celebrity Golf Tournament, he’s a regular appearing every year in the four it’s been in existence. Robby played in the Celebrity Jam Session on March 1st and played with Steve Cropper covering the blues of The Doors “Backdoor Man” and “Roadhouse Blues.” The event broke last years record and brought in $881,000 for St. Judes Children’s Hospital.

Next up on Robby’s appearances for charity is for MS (or rather against it) in the 2nd Annual Rock Against MS to be held in familiar stamping grounds for Robby, the Whisky a go-go. The event will help to those with MS to have services for daily care and emergency funding. It will be raise funds for a work in progress called the Rock House which will be a facility to provide those with MS with “programs and opportunities designed to heal the mind, body and spirit” of those affected by MS. The concert is March 26 at the Whisky a go-go in Los Angeles tickets are available at Ticketfly and range in price from $35 to $1000.

John Densmore Interviews

John is out on a mini book tour (see the article “John Densmore Book Tour Heads to France”) John was in Las Vegas on Thursday and was interviewed by Vegas Seven. Today (March 8) he’s appearing in Memphis, Tennessee and was interviewed by the Memphis Flyer.

Eve Babitz

Eve Babitz is known in The Doors story as a girlfriend of Jim Morrison who tried to talk Jim out of naming The Doors, The Doors telling him it was “too Ojai geeky.” Babitz knew a lot of famous people and did a lot of interesting things herself. She was photographed nude playing chess with Marcel Duchamp, she was a writer, rock ‘n’ roll photographer/album cover designer, and knew everybody in Hollywood from the rock scene to the movie business. A profile of her was in February’s Vanity Fair in the article “Eve Babitz’s Los Angeles Party Scene” by Lili Anolik

L.A. Woman Tours

In a final note our friend Elisa Jordan who runs L.A. Woman Tours (see related articles below) in Los Angeles was written up in Rock Cellar Magazine and provided them with a brief slideshow tour of Jim Morrison’s L.A.
