Doom 4 is the next installment of the extremely popular Doom series. This game will take a less horror styled take on another amazing Doom based game. The release date for this title is currently unknown; however, there are quite a few ways to guesstimate a ballpark range for the actual release date.
First off, there are rumors that Doom 4 will be released for the next-gen of consoles. This is bad news for the more impoverished members of the gaming community, yet at the same time this will allow for a dramatically improved visual and mechanical play style for Doom 4.
Second, Doom 4 was in the works since 2008, yet the entire project was scrapped in 2011 for not meeting up to standards. The overall game just wasn’t worthy of the Doom title; so much so in fact, that Bethesda Softworks decided to just scrap the entire game and start from scratch all over again.
Because of these two pieces of information, plus the general timeframe it takes for most major video games to reach completion, the most likely time for a release date of Doom 4 would be the holiday season 2014; however, that is a very rough estimate.
If Bethesda decides to pack an absurd amount of adventure into Doom 4, then we may see it roll around in 2015 instead. On the other hand, if Bethesda decides to churn Doom 4 out ASAP then we may see it coincide with the release of the next-gen consoles themselves this holiday season, 2013. Chances are though, 2014 or 2015 would be the probably timeframes for Doom 4.
Fear not however; even though the first version was scrapped entirely, it does not mean the cancellation of the series. Bethesda seems adamant about continuing the Doom series they recently purchased. This next Doom should be the best one yet, especially considering that Bethesda said they wanted Doom 4 to do at least as well as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
