Donte' Stallworth and girlfriend ‘shocked and burned’ in hot air balloon crash (Video)

Donte' Stallworth, the NFL wide receiver signed by the New England Patriots in 2012 who only played one game after going on injured reserve with an ankle injury, was injured in a freak hot air balloon accident on March 16 when the hot air balloon in which he was a passenger crashed into power lines in Homestead, Fla., according to USA Today.

Earlier that day it had been reported that Stallworth had been hospitalized with serious burn injuries.

The Miami-Dade Police reported initially that two unidentified passengers in the hot air balloon were rushed to a local trauma center after the crash.

Turns out, the two passengers were Stallworth and his girlfriend. A third passenger riding in the balloon was uninjured.

ESPN reported that the couple were both shocked and burned after crashing into the power lines, but weren't seriously injured.

Stallworth’s agent released an email stating that "he's ok. Has some burns but he will be fine."

In addition to his time with the Saints, Stallworth has also played for the New Orleans Saints, Philadelphia Eagles, Cleveland Browns, Baltimore Ravens, and Washington Redskins.

Donte' Stallworth was suspended by the NFL for the 2009 season after pleading guilty to DUI manslaughter charges in Florida.

He is currently a free agent.
