Celebrities reacted en masse to the decision by the Senate to repeal "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," with Lady Gaga and Ellen DeGeneres among others making their voices heard via Twitter. Lady Gaga, who stood up for homosexuals enlisted in the military earlier this year by wearing a meat dress to the MTV awards, tweeted her joy regarding the repeal of DADT.
"Can't hold back the tears+pride. We did it!i Our voice was heard + today the Senate REPEALED DADT. A triumph for equality after 17 YEARS."
Ellen DeGeneres, who just hosted the "Christmas in Washington" special, which was attended by President Obama, said the following: "Thank you Senators for pushing us one step closer towards full equality."
Even President Obama took to the popular social networking website to share his appreciation that the U.S Senate voted to repeal the military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy, President Obama's tweet read as follows: "By ending 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell,' no longer will patriotic Americans be asked to live a lie in order to serve the country they love."
