October is known for its campaigns to save women's lives. It's Breast Cancer Month and it is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month as well. The Texas Muslim Women's Foundation, a pioneer in fighting domestic violence in North Texas, is raising funds to benefit its educational and awareness services, social services, and Peaceful Oasis, a 24-hour emergency shelter providing services to abused women and children while catering religious needs of women's faith traditions.
This year, a generous donor, the Tabbani Family Foundation, has offered to match up donations up to $20,000 during October. This means that as much as $20,000 could be doubled during this campaign benefiting the domestic violence campaign. So far, TMWF has raised $11,382. "We love the Texas Muslim Women's Foundation." The Tabbani Family Foundation stated in a press release. "As a family we are very proud to support their work. Their diversity is amazing and they have been able to help so many because they are not limited by the boundaries of faith, culture or language differences. The services they provide are very much needed and we are inspired by the dedication and vision of this great organization."
Donations will support services including:
- 24-hour hotline
- Peaceful Oasis: 24-hour emergency shelter providing ethnic food, attire and ability to observe religious practices
- Legal counsel and representation in immigration and family law
- Case management, individual and group counseling
- Public education and training sessions
