In the 2009 Dancing with the Stars season finale Donny Osmond was crowned the winner, and won the mirror-ball trophy on Tuesday night. Season 9 of Dancing with the Stars was good this season, with several great dancers. After he won, Donny Osmond said...I am bringing this trophy back to Utah!
In the Tuesday night episode, the judges gave their highest vote of the night to Donny Osmond, Mya was two points behind him, and then Kelly Osborne two points behind her. These points were added to last night's votes, and make up 50% of the total votes, and the other half of the votes come from fans.
The final three dancers who competed for the Dancing with the Stars 2009 trophy were Kelly Osborne, Donny Osmond, and Mya. The judges gave top billing in Monday night’s show to Mya, then Donny Osmond, and the Kelly Osborne.
Whitney Houston who looked fantastic performed “Million Dollar Bill” on the dance floor, she sounded incredible. Later in the show, she performed "I want to Dance with Somebody".
The losers club from Dancing with the Stars include dancer voted off first in each season, and they performed a funny little skit about it. Ashley Hamilton was voted off first in season 9 was accepted into the losers club.
Each star from this season reappeared to perform a short dance with their partners (in the order that they were voted off) in a final wrap up.
Donny Osmond is from Utah, and it seems that the entire state has been following his progress through every week. The local TV stations have covered the story each week as he continued through the season finale. And ABC 4 reported live from the dance studio in Los Angeles. There were a total of five Utah dancers this season to perform on Dancing with the Stars (several of the professional dancers are from Utah). To read more about Donny Osmond, click here.

I read the article about the season finale of "Dancing With the Stars" and would have to wonder if the writer saw the same show I did! Whitney Houston didn't look fantastic or sound great. It appeared that she could barely walk sometimes (down the stairs) and several times she appeared to be almost out of breath. As far as her singing, I rarely could make out her voice. Once in a while I could hear her but it was mostly her backup singers that belted the tunes.
I thought that the show was stunninly spectacular. However, Whitney's performance was disappointing.. I would have to give her a "5".
Maybe it is a popularity contest. But, everyone knows the scoring and the rules when getting into it.
Season after season, the results are disappointing. The most deserving rarely wins! The reason it seems must be the audience: piling on their favorite NOT the best performer; it is a popularity contest, not a ballroom dance contest. Jiles last year, Mya, Joey Fatone(sp) they have all deserved to be CROWNED the WINNERS but were denied. Reality TV, give it up! It sound be called Fantasy TV!!!
I don't watch your show and don't care for it, we already knew from the beginning that Donny was going to win of course! You all pick your winners by popularity not in dance performance..hopefully the ending of your season will be off soon since all your doing is taken up airtime, I'd rather be watching another show.

So did Marie pay a bunch of people to vote for her brother? His final performance was awful and the judges turned a blind eye. Mya's was awesome and kelly was right behind her. This comes from someone who grew up with DO and thinks KO is ridiculous. Now I know why it took me so long to watch it this year!
Mya, although clearly the best dancer doesn't have the charisma that Donny and/or Kelly has. Donny's the whole package. That's why he won. Bottom line.
this was the best season ever, I am so proud of them all. But I am so glad that Donny Osmond won. He has worked so hard. And at his mature age he did a marvelous job. He is an inspiration to us all. I have followed the entire Osmond's since they first started there career. I am just so proud of him, so proud of them all. thanks
I have watched DWTS for years, but this was the last straw. Donny should have been eliminated weeks ago and Mya was 100 times the dancer. The show has turned into a popularity contest...nothing more.
Boo hiss hiss....Why was Donny even in the finals? He should have been gone when they eliminated Joanna. The show has really gone to the birds. It seems the home voting counts for way more than 50% of the total score. Can you spell "RIGGED"?
Those are some rude comments about Whitney!! You people need to grow up!! She has come a long way and we are all proud of her. Did u not watch the American Music Awards?? Anyway, I do not feel the judges were fair on the last dance from the finalists. Donny was not all that!! Kelly or Mya should have won!! It sure was unfair and very sad to see Donny win. :(

It is what it is, I am glad Donny won, has anyone that has commented ever ballroom danced, it is very hard work, and he deserved it. Stop downing people, look at Taylor Swift she won all kinds of awards, not because she was the best, but because people felt sorry for her after that nut got on stage. Stop and think about that he was twice the age of most of those dancers.
Donny should have been dimissed instead of Joanna. She was a fabulous dancer. He was NOT the best out of the three. Mya was the best.She should have won. I'm done with DWS. Obviously Donny's fan base was the state of Utah, and the mormans. So of course he will win. This is the last episode I'll ever watch. I think the voting should be up to the judges ONLY.
Though I hate to admit it, Donny just LOOKED like a real dancer at the end! Mya is going to be able to do ANYTHING she wants after this so don't feel bad for her! Look at Adam Lambert who came in 2nd on AI! And Kelly...Wow! What a joy to watch her grow....I mean transformed! I can't wait to see what 'baby girl' does with this new seasoned talent!
I am so disappointed - I too thought Donnie should have been voted off weeks ago. The final should have been Mya, Joanna, Kelly. Every time Donnie danced he looked the same - no matter what the dance. If he danced the tango-walz-gidderbug-shacha-they all looked the same because of his teen years on stage. That is all he knows. I did not think his show case dance was good at all. He was stiff and jerky. I follwed Donnie when he was young but really he has gotten annoying! I am done wathching Dancing too - I think this season the show will lose a lot of viewers. What a shame it started out great.
I love Dancing with the stars, I like Donny. But I don't think people win do to the dancing. Most all people vote there favorite
person, Donny has always been a showman he does it well. My daughter was madly in love with him when she was a kid. I feel like he is a good role model. And he really does dance very well.
Donny deserved the trophy, because he had great charisma, showmanship, consistency, etc. Mya was by far the best technically, but then again she has had a good background in dance so it is nothing too impressive. I was rooting for Mya until I watched her free style which was total bore. It is not her fault it is her partner's fault for creating such a boring routine for such a talented dancers. She could have rocked the house, but instead she settled for her partner's stupid HAIR idea. I like HAIR, but this was not the time for it. At least when Donny pulled out the tricks for "Broadway" he did it in a way that was entertaining. Kelly Osbourne was a class act and she deserved to make it to the finals. I'm very happy with the progress she has made.
I agree that Mya was robbed. She was clearly the best dancer and by the judges commnets on recent weeks and all of the 10's she got from the judges, how could they come up with the conclusion Donny won???
This will reslly discourage me from watching again.
I agree with Patsy, Barbara, etc, .... This year Mya and last year Gilles Marini. Very disappointing !!!

Poor contestants! they never had a chance with Donny and Marie's face always on Extra Extra, Entertainment tonight and all those other shows giving themselves publicity.

I am so proud of Kelly! I always thought of her as a spoiled rude rotten child, but after seeing her on DWS she has grown up to become an amazing young women. She poised grace, elegance and gratitude! Even until the end she was such a gracious looser giving Donny credit but in my eyes she is a ture winner!

The best dancers should win! Donny was hardly the best dancer!! The judges should have the last say. Remember Sabrina. I am done watching this show, it makes absolutely no sense at all.
Kelly would of deserve the trophy. She came long way with out any dancing background. If this show would be what it supposed to be, than should not count popularity, looks, or age. It's about DANCE. Where you started and how you progressing.
I agree with all the people who are not watching any more .The show is not fun to watch when the contestants can buy their way to the top and the way they dance doesn't make any difference.
I'm glad I'm not alone in feeling the judges were biased. When you have ET hostess on abc and Donny Osmond's sister for every DWTS ads - of course, Donny won. Marie didn't win when she was on, so Donny had something to prove.
I think Joanna and Kelly both deserved to win. They started with no dance experience and worked very hard. I give them a tremendous amount of credit.
Mya was the best dancer, but she definitely had advantage over everyone else. She has been dancing for many years and making MTV videos.
I will continue to watch the show, but I think abc needs to have more fair judging.
You all need to grow up. It's just a TV show. If you don't want to watch it anymore, Don't. And I think Donny did a great job, and he did deserve to win just like anybody else could have won. It was his time. I also enjoyed watching Kelly grow while on DWTS. She did an excellent job. Way to go all of the contestants. I enjoy watching because you just never know who could win till the end.
Nobody wants to admit it, but Donny "won" because he is affiliated with a religion that has about taken over the country, if not much of the free world. DONNY YOU ARE NOT THE BETTER DANCER!!! Your world-wide congregation voted you in. No one can "compete" with such a popularity contest as that. Mya was and is the much MUCH better dancer. I don't plan to watch the show ever again. It means nothing. It's rigged.
PLEASE, NO more Osmonds on this show! I think DWTS has catered to Utah for long enough! Mya had more grace and style. Donnie and fam need to go back to the 70's. They're superiority complex is irritating.
Its a total joke that Donny won. I agree that the Joanna should be in the final. The judges' scores should make up at least 70% of the overall rating to be fair to competitors. Having said that, however, I find the judges are biased at times. In this season, they have actually over-complimented and over-rated Donny. Donny's dances were so awkward and stiff and Ididn't even find any charisma in him!

I am sick of the Osmond family. Also sick of Marie being on ET nearly everynight. When the headlines indicates that she will be on ET, I always turn the channel to TMZ. Donny and all of you knows, he WAS NOT the better dancer and he SHOULD NOT have won. He may have the trophy, but MYA is the winner and by far a better dancer. I don't care what big star comes on to dance next year; I will never watch DWTS again and I pray that the show gets CANCELLED!

As for me, I love hearing about the Osmonds. After living here in LA for 40 years, and seeing the true scum of the earth get paraded and feted everywhere [Osbournes come to mind, Octomom and the View] it is true joy to watch decent, clean-living people receive some acclaim.
