According to ABC News, Donnie Wahlberg and Jenny McCarthy are now husband and wife. The celebrity couple said "I do" on Sunday evening in the ballroom of the Hotel Baker in St. Charles, Illinois. Us Weekly said reps for the former "The View" and the former "New Kids on the Block" singer confirmed that the happy couple was married in an intimate ceremony that lasted only 20 minutes and was attended by family and close friends.
The couple began dating in July 2013, and they were engaged for only four months. Wahlberg, 45, proposed to McCarthy, 41, in April with a 10-carat yellow sapphire engagement ring. The actress made the news public on "The View" when she showed the ring to her then-cohosts and viewers. She exclaimed, "I just got engaged!" before explaining how her son, Evan, helped with the surprise proposal. She said Evan handed her three pieces of paper that said, "will," "you" and "marry." Wahlberg then walked out with "me?" written on his shirt, got down on one knee and asked the question. McCarthy choked up while telling the story. After her explanation, Wahlberg then appeared on the set from backstage to surprise her with a kiss.
This is the second marriage for both. McCarthy was married to director John Mallory Asher from 1999 to 2005, before having a long-term relationship with Jim Carrey in the late 2000s. Wahlberg was married to recording engineer Kim Fey from 1999 to 2008. They have two sons together, Xavier, 21 and Elijah, 12.
There was much talk on social media about Donnie's movie star brother Mark Wahlberg not attending the ceremony claiming that he and his wife are not fans of the bride. According to TMZ, the real reason for his absence was because he was in L.A. attending his 11-year-old daughter Ella's birthday party.
