The website Nintendoeverything.com has confirmed the release of a new title on the Wii U Virtual Console. That game is “Donkey Kong 3,” and it was released on September 26, 2013. The game was originally released on the NES in 1986. The game is available for download for the price of $4.99.
“Donkey Kong 3” is something of an oddball title in the franchise. The game plays very differently from previous games in the series, and stars a new character, Stanley the Bugman. This character has made very few appearances outside of this game, and even those were primarily cameos. Stanley uses a bug spray gun to try and push Donkey Kong upward on the screen. Once Donkey Kong hits the top of the screen, the player wins the stage. Players will also have to defeat bees and other creatures, as they will try to hurt Stanley and steal his flowers.
There are three stages to beat, each with increasing difficulty. Once the player beats the third stage, the stages start over. The primary goal of the game is to simply get a high score, like many other NES titles.
