The family of one-week old Edward (Eddie) John Bermingham is asking for donations after dealing with the heartbreaking loss of the baby's mother.
Nicole Bermingham gave birth to Eddie on August 20th, only to contract a devastating infection that claimed her life six days later. She died on August 26th, leaving behind her husband, Ed, and baby Eddie.
Nicole had been intent on breastfeeding her baby and even pumped the morning of her death to keep her supply going. After Nicole's death, friends at Blooma Yoga spread the word via Facebook asking for donations of breastmilk for Eddie. They were soon overwhelmed by offers of milk donations and the family altered the request for help, saying:
We are overwhelmed and humbled by this community. It is more than evident that when we come together and unite, support and love can move mountains. Thank you to everyone who has come forward for Baby Eddie and his family with your donation requests.
At this time, in lieu of milk donations, the family would greatly appreciate any financial donations to their site.
The web site says:
With Nicole's passing, we are uniting to help raise money that will directly aid in the support of baby Eddie now and for his future, and to ensure that father, Ed, will have time to grieve while limiting any added financial stress. Thanks in advance for your kind contribution.
Donations can be made online at the site via credit card in any amount, and can be given anonymously. Donations can also be shared via Facebook to help spread the word.
