Bobby-the-bunny is a Zooh Corner sanctuary bunny. Bobby had an extremely rough start and was living in horrific circumstances until he was rescued and brought to Zooh Corner. While Bobby has ongoing dental issues, thanks to the kind volunteers at Zooh Corner, he now has a happy life as a beloved house rabbit.
On Sunday, January 19, 2013, Bobby went into gastrointestinal stasis, which worsened as the evening progressed. He was taken to the veterinary ER to see an exotics veterinarian for emergency care, stabilization and assessment. On Monday Jan 20, he had emergency surgery to remove an obstruction in his small intestine; Bobby made it through his initial surgery but then threw a blood clot to his right leg, causing the leg to swell and blocking the blood flow to his foot. Last night (Jan 29) two of Bobby's toes had to be amputated in the hopes that his foot can be saved. Poor Bobby is resting comfortably at his foster mom’s, although he is on a great deal of medication and round-the-clock nursing care and syringe feeding.
The bill for the original surgery and after-care hospitalization is $1762.93; the second bill was $292.70 (paid) and more charges will be forthcoming for cost of the amputation and follow-up care. Zooh Corner has two weeks to pay off this bill while maintaining veterinary care, food, shelter and supplies for the other rabbits in their care, as well as the costs of rent, utilities, etc. Zooh Corner has raised over $770 but they need your help. No amount is too small! Every dollar helps.

A little history of Zooh Corner:
Readers may recall that in May of 2010, Zooh Corner Rabbit Rescue was evicted from their quarters at the San Gabriel Valley Humane Society when that organization decided to focus solely on homeless dogs and cats. This species-select attitude mystified many, and abruptly left Zooh Corner with no place for their rescued rabbits.
Not giving up, Zooh Corner has struggled on to find enough foster homes for the bunnies and continue to pay off their vet bills. Zooh Corner strives to get back to their original goal of at-home fostering, educating the public, hosting adoption events, and raising money from items sold at their online store.
Zooh Corner Rabbit Rescue was founded in 1993 by Cat (Alexandra) Logsdon. Zooh Corner is a 501(c)3 non profit, no-kill rabbit welfare organization with a threefold mission: to rescue, treat, spay/neuter and place (as house pets) rabbits that have been abused, neglected, injured or dumped; to educate the public on rabbit health care and needs; and to stop the irresponsible breeding and selling of rabbits. Zooh Corner provides free educational material to veterinary offices, pet stores and the general public via informational pamphlets, monthly adoption events, their web site, and their eNewsletter, Zooh News.
