Donald Trump wants $5 million since proving he’s not descended from an ape (Video)

Donald Trump, ever the one to capitalize on a story, announced yesterday that he is suing comedian Bill Maher over comments he made on “The Tonight Show” last month. The Donald told “Fox & Friends” he’s suing to collect on a $5 million bet that Maher initiated on Jay Leno’s show, in response to Trump’s challenge to President Obama to release his college records. Bill Maher offered to donate the same $5 million amount to Trump’s charity of choice if he could provide a birth certificate that proves he’s not descended from an ape, according to the E! News.

In his January appearance, Maher announced that he would donate the millions to charity if Donald Trump provided evidence that he was not the, “spawn of his mother having sex with orangutan”.

Donald Trump produced his birth certificate to show both his parents were indeed human, and now he’s suing to force Bill Maher to pay up.

The real estate magnet filed suit in L.A. superior court Monday, according to the Daily Mail. “I don’t know whether I will win or lose the Bill Maher lawsuit but had an obligation to sue for charity”, Trump said in a statement on Monday.

Donald provided a copy of his birth certificate proving he is, in fact, the “son of Fred Trump”, who is not a member of the Great Ape family, according to TMZ. Trump alleges in his legal action that five “worthy charities” have now been deprived of millions of dollars in donations due to Maher's failure to pay up.

Trump has long berated President Obama over whether he was born in the United States, the so called “birther” debacle over Obama’s birth records. This last election, Trump offered the money to charity if Obama released his college records and passport information.

Maher suggested the multimillion dollar bet could be split among charities of Trump's choice, naming the “Hair Club for Men” or “The Institute for Incorrigible Douchebaggery” as possibilities.

Comparing Donald Trump to an orangutan, Bill Maher was satirizing the New York billionaire’s infamous sandy colored comb-over looking coif, and how it resembles the fur of the great ape that roams the jungles of South East Asia.

In addition to calling Trump the son of an orangutan, Maher called Trump a “liar”, a “racist” and a “douche bag” as he reacted to some derogatory tweets that the Donald had posted online about him.

Bill Maher insists his Jan. 8 talk show challenge was all in jest, but Trump said, “I don't think he was joking. He said it with venom”.

After Trump had issued his challenge to the President last October, Obama joked to Jay Leno that, “the bad blood between himself and Trump stems back to an argument ‘when we were growing up together in Kenya’”.

It’s interesting to note the timing of the lawsuit, as Donald Trump’s reality show Celebrity Apprentice is set to debut it’s first ever all-star edition on Sunday March 3 at 9 p.m. EST on NBC.
