Bill Maher told Jay Leno he would donate $5 million to the charity of Donald Trump’s choice if Trump could prove he was not fathered by an orangutan. Trump fired back by filing a $5 million lawsuit against the comedian and political pundit for breach of contract, Gossip Cop reported on Feb. 4.
Last month Maher joked on the “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” that he would donate $5 million to the charity of “The Donald’s” choice if the business mogul could prove that he was not the “spawn” of his mother having sex with an ape. Trump made his June 14, 1946 birth certificate public, proving that he is not half-orangutan.
Monday, Trump filed a lawsuit against Maher for “breach of contract” in Los Angeles County Superior Court, claiming Bill Maher failed to make good on his “unconditional offer” of the $5 million. Donald Trump says five “worthy charities” have been “deprived” of funds due to Bill Maher’s inaction.
According to the documents, Trump “accepted Maher’s offer in writing, and has provided documentation demanded by Maher. Donald Trump claims that Bill Maher has failed and refused to perform his obligation to make payment in accordance with the terms of his offer.”
Bill Maher jokingly made the offer of $5 million in response to Donald Trump’s own cash offer to President Obama for similar birth credentials during the 2012 presidential campaign. Trump had considered running for president himself in 2012.
The comments Maher made on the “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” may have been a joke, but the lawsuit filed by Donald Trump is not. The lawsuit has really been filed.
