No, the title is not a loose summary, or even a metaphor. It's what really happened.
Following the defeat of Mitt Romney, as well as many other Republican candidates that were considered to have huge advantages like Todd Akin and Richard Mourdock, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal chastised the G.O.P. for what it had become.
"We've got to stop being the stupid party. It's time for a new Republican Party that talks like adults," he said. "We had a number of Republicans damage the brand this year with offensive and bizarre comments. I'm here to say we've had enough of that."
Yesterday, Donald Trump, in the same interview with "FOX & Friends" in which he reaffirmed his intent to sue Bill Maher for his alleged five million dollar bet, took issue with Governor Jindal's use of the word 'stupid' to describe the party.
“I think he was stupid for using that term because that term is so obnoxious and so good for the other side,” said Trump.
Let me repeat that: Donald Trump called Governor Jindal stupid for using the word "stupid."
Making matters even worse for Trump (and more laughable for the rest of us), he made this blunder more than once.
”You don’t use the word stupid," said Trump. "Frankly I think it was a stupid thing for him to say.”
Worse still for Trump, Jindal's sentiments about the G.O.P. were, only one year ago, Trump's own as well.
In a 2011 video message, Trump asserted that "the Democrats are laughing at the stupidity of the Republicans and the Paul Ryan plan," and later, that "ultimately I don’t want to battle against the Republicans’ stupidity, because it’s stupidity the things they are doing."
In summary, Mr. Trump called the Republicans stupid, then called Bobby Jindal stupid because he used the word 'stupid.'
Video footage of both Trump's assertion that Governor Jindal was stupid, and his 2011 video in which he called the Republicans stupid, can be found here.
All this goes to prove one thing, and unfortunately, it's something that everyone likely already knew in the first place:
Donald Trump is very stupid.
