September 13, reaction from Donald Trump to Dick Cheney's scathing dismissal of Trumps value as a critic of the "bad deals" the U.S. makes with China and how they hurt the American economy, came with swift retribution on Neil Cavuto's afternoon broadcast.
In a phone interview, Trump dismissed Cheney's remarks as pay-back because of criticisms that Trump has made about what Cheney’s written in his book
Almost mirroring Cheney's statement about not, personally, looking to “ Donald Trump for leadership." Trump said:
I’m not a fan of Dick Cheney. I’m not a fan of his vice presidency. I think he did a poor job, to put it mildly. And, I’m sure he heard me say that.”
Trump added, "I've never been a huge fan of Bush, but I didn't like the fact that, essentially, he was calling a - he was calling President Bush a liar. And I don't like people that work for somebody else and then write books about them ... and say lots of bad things." Cavuto called Trump down on that, saying that Cheney didn't quite call Bush a liar.
Trump went on to reiterate his firm conviction that whether leaders were willing to acknowledge it or not "China is laughing at us...and they're taking our jobs."
