Donaire was fighting for more than money and a title

Nonito Donaire broke two knuckles in his hand last night during his bout Vs Wilfredo Vasquez Jr. I was watching closely throughout this fight and noticed that he was punching harder in this fight than in any other fight that I have ever seen him in.

Donaire clearly won the fight and even though he himself is not happy with his performance, it was a nice win for him.

HBO producers gave Nonito's wife some air time last night as well. This was not by accident. Firstly, Rachel Donaire is very easy on the eyes. She is a beautiful woman with a smile that lights up a room. Secondly, Rachel was the victim of a nasty Twitter attack launched by Wilfredo Vasquez' wife for a few days leading up to the fight.

I always get a kick out of how certain people become keyboard warriors from the comforts of their homes or in this case, a hotel room. The exchange between the two got nasty, and it got personal. Rachel took the high road and her attacker took the low road. Nonito wasn't happy about the insults launched at his wife, and he let that be known last night as he was trying to punch a hole through Vasquez with each punch that he threw.

Donaire showed his bloody hand to the crowd last night after the fight. It was swollen and the blood was soaked all the way through the tape.

After the fight when the two fighters met in the middle of the ring, you could see that Donaire was not happy. If you listened closely, you can hear Donaire mentioning something to Vasquez about his wife Rachel.

The Twitter attack got personal and Donaire settled it like a man, inside of the ring. He was fighting for more than a paycheck and a title belt last night. He was defending his wife and he got a little good ole fashioned get back. He spoke with his fists last night and he has a broken hand to prove it.
