The legend himself Roy Jones, Jr., stopped by dBoxing Source Radio Show this week to share his thoughts on the current state of the sport, its superstars, and what's next for his boxing career.
On the subject of super bantamweight star Nonito Donaire, Jr., Jones was all praise for the Filipino-American top pound-for-pound fighter.
"My opinion is that he is one of the best pound-for-pound fighters out there right now. I love watching him moreso than watching most of the other fighters rignt now, because he's exciting, he's explosive with both hands, he's a great all-around fighter, and I love watching him in action," Jones, Jr. told me.
Calling in as a surprise guest, Donaire's wife Rachel told Jones, Jr. how much an advice the legend shared to her husband many years prior while he was still an amateur has stuck to him to this day.
"It makes me feel really good, because stopping and saying something to these fighters does have an affect on them- that's the most important part," Jones, Jr. responded, and added, "Donaire is my favorite pound-for-pound fighter."
Jones, Jr. is expecting another exciting fight tonight for Donaire against Wilfredo Vazquez, Jr. and has the Filipino boxing dynamo winning in sensational fashion.
