Don't tell me how many miles...

"Don't tell me how many miles you've run, tell me what you did with those miles." This quote I read early in my training. At the time I was training for my first half marathon but as my fitness training has evolved and turned more toward adventure racing and more time lifting I still think of this quote. It doesn't matter how much time you spend in the gym, what matters is what you do with that time. With that in mind today I give you a quick bodyweight workout that I love to do when I don't feel like working out or I don't have a full 40 minutes to put into a longer lifting session.

Do 3 sets of the following at 10 reps of each motion. Don't rest during the set. rest 30 to 60 seconds between sets of all four motions.

  • Squat jump
  • Split squat jump
  • Burpee
  • Mountain Climber
  • Plyo Pushup
  • REST
  • Repeat set...

This set can be done as a quick workout or coupled with 1/4 mile sprints between sets. If you do the run as part of the workout do it four times with a mile warm up and cool down. Either way it is a quick, great workout that can be done anywhere. Have fun and don't tell me how long you worked out, tell me what you did with those minutes.
