During President Obama’s inauguration, he constantly promoted his agenda on gay marriage… even making it sound as if the majority of Americans are for it. The President did not consider one thing; California. California is still in a legal battle over gay marriage in the Supreme Court, because of Proposition 8, a prop that banned gay marriage in California. The voters of California, a liberal state to say the least voted against (not for) gay marriage. So, this has to make us ask a crucial question: “Do the majority of Americans really support gay marriage,” or is it simply that the minority is screaming above the voice of a nearly silent crowd?
A lot of Americans are silent on the issue, because they don’t care or they don’t care enough, to say anything and get involved in the debate. Obviously, the gay minority is going to make loud noises over the issue, because it affects them and they want it. Maybe they want it more than a lot of us don’t want it, but that doesn’t mean that the American majority approves. It doesn’t give the President the right to go out and approve of it on behalf of the entire country! People want separation of Church and state in order to keep Presidents or government from pushing their religious views down their throats… how is this any different? If the President said that the entire nation was made up of all Christians, surely this would enrage the atheists, and probably every other non-Christian religion. It would even enrage Christians, because quite frankly everyone is not a Christian and everyone in this country does not approve of gay marriage. And some think that is because only Christians disapprove of gay marriage, but this is not true… there are a majority of non-religious people that are not supporters too. So, to our President Barack Obama, please do not put words in our mouth and approve on it behalf of the entire nation. I understand you're trying to bring our nation together, I applaud that, but I think we can do it by agreeing to disagree. Do not put the American people in your box. Let the states decide on the issue, and I believe California has already decided... but apparently, the voters don't matter.

This article is not to debate whether or not it’s a sin to be gay… it’s simply to help find the truth, does the American majority really support this and does the President have the right to act as if we do? I don’t care if the President gives his opinion on it, but when the President tries to say that my opinion is the same as his… I don’t think so!
