Time once again this weekend for another Boulder Writers' Workshop literary salon, this one hosted by up-and-coming Westminster, Colorado writer Kim Lajevardi. Here's what you need to know:

Literary Salon hosted by Kim Lajevardi
When: Sunday, July 13, 2:30-4:30 p.m.
Where: Boulder Public Library Meadows Branch
Cost: Free, requires pre-registration

Lajevardi's first novel, Silent Witnesses, is "nearing completion" according to the event page, but it has already garnered a finalist slot in the 2013 Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers' Colorado Gold contest. It tells the story not so much of the act of brutality at its center but of the three witnesses who stood by and did nothing when it happened. Told from each of these three characters' points of view over the two weeks following the incident, it explores the reasons for their failure to act and the irreversible consequences they suffer for it.

Lori deBoer, founder of the Boulder Writers' Workshop and also Lajevardi's writing coach, presents this interview with her in which they talk about the inspiration for the book, the struggle of writing it, and the author's writing process.

Lajevardi also participates in the Insecure Writers Support Group blog-hop, which takes place every first Wednesday. You can too! Your assignment, should you choose to accept it, is to...

Post your thoughts on your own blog. Talk about your doubts and the fears you have conquered. Discuss your struggles and triumphs. Offer a word of encouragement for others who are struggling. Visit others in the group and connect with your fellow writer.

Visit the above link for more information on how to participate via your blog and/or Twitter, and find out what the ISWG is all about.

How soon can we hope to read Silent Witnesses, and once it's complete, what's next for Lajevardi? Don't miss your chance to ask her on Sunday.
