The rest of the country may have celebrated with (or chewed out) the groundhogs last weekend, but those of us in west Texas can celebrate our way with the West Texas Running Club’s Prairie Dog Town races this Saturday, February 8th. This race features a 2 mile and 4 mile race. Both races begin at 10am with a new location at the Bayer Museum of Agriculture (E Broadway and Canyon Lakes Drive). This means you’ll have an indoor location to hang out before and after the race, which is very appealing given this weekend’s forecast!
The cost is $5 for running club members and kids under 13 and $15 for all others. Kids must be 7 years old to enter the 2 mile race and 10 years old for the 4 mile race. Online registration expires Thursday, February 6th at 6pm. There will be no race day registration. Packet pickup will be at the museum on race day and will expire at 9:30am.
Both courses are out and back courses ending with an uphill by the museum. Besides the hill at the end, the 2 mile course is mostly flat. The 4 mile course, however, features several big hills so be prepared for those.
If you don’t want to tackle this course, volunteering is always a great option.
