Do you suffer from routine dryness on your hands during the hot, summer months? If so, there are some simple steps you can take to relieve your dry problem areas.

Flaky skin, peeling cuticles, and extreme dryness surrounding fingernails are common problems that can become more intense when the summer heat is as its highest.

Don’t allow dry, itchy or noticeably irritated, hands keep you from maintaining cute summer manicures. Become familiar with simple procedures and types of moisturizers that can lessen the severity of dry problem areas on your hands.

●It is important to use a hand moisturizer that will help to heal your skin and lock in moisture. Steer clear of water based hand lotions or creams. Instead, opt for shea butter or an oil-based moisturizer infused with almond, jojoba or argan oil.

● Try to stay away from any products that contain alcohol.

● Protect your hands whenever possible. Wear gloves when completing routine tasks like washing dishes, gardening or housework.

● Don’t pull off hangnails, peeling cuticles or any skin surrounding your fingernails that may be flaking or peeling. Use cuticle or nail clippers to gently and carefully cut them down.

● Keep a travel size bottle of your favorite oil-based moisturizer with you. Make sure to always moisturize your hands after you wash them.
