Once engaged some may think that their dating days are over. Now all the time together is devoted to wedding planning, house hunting, shopping, etc. Spending so much on the necessities for the big day and the happily ever after days to follow leaves nothing over for going out.
The fact of the matter is, though, that going out together is part of assuring you do live happily ever after. Just about every marriage book includes the standard advice to arrange regular dates with your spouse. It is important enough to warrant a portion of your budget. But the real good news is that your dates do not have to make a dent in your budget at all.
I've seen articles that purport to give creative advice for cheap and free dates. Generally, the ideas are to do things at home to save the expense of dining or drinking out. It is true that you can enjoy a candle lit dinner at home for $10-$20 rather than spending $100 at a restaurant. You can also watch a movie at home rather than spending $15-$20 at a movie theater. Those ideas are fine for spending time together as a couple without spending money.
Nevertheless, there are times when you don't just want to stay in together but to go out on the town, especially when you want to enjoy what the summer season has to offer in New York. The good news is that New York offers options for entertainment on any budget. There are many possibilities for a cheap date that will just fit the bill for a couple with only the sparest of change to spare.
Whether you are a nature love, art lover, history buff, kayaking enthusiast, you can find something that will appeal to you and your wallet. Details in the posts to follow.
