Don’t expect Bioware to announce a ‘Dragon Age: Inquisition’ release date at PAX

While members of Bioware will be present at this year’s PAX East and the developer has announced a schedule for what they plan to discuss at the event, player’s shouldn’t hope for Dragon Age: Inquisition to be given a more concrete release date during this weekend’s festivities. Dragon Age Executive Producer Mark Darrah confirmed on April 9 that he launch date for the third installment of the developer’s popular fantasy series will not be revealed during PAX East 2014.

At the current time, Bioware has only stated that Dragon Age: Inquisition will release sometime during the fall of this year. The game is still on track to meet that broad launch window the last time the developer provided an update, but the studio presently isn’t ready to provide any more specific dates than that. The best hope that fans have for a release date announcement is likely to happen during this year’s E3 event which will take place in the summer.

Bioware has their hands full with the next Dragon Age title since the game is being developed for a large number of platforms at the same time. Dragon Age: Inquisition will be released across two different console generations to ultimately release on Xbox 360, PS3, Xbox One, PS4, and PC when it does finally launch later this fall.

Like many upcoming Electronic Arts published titles, the game is being built using the Frostbite 3 engine which supposedly allows for development on last-gen systems while still being able to take advantage of the advanced specifications from the next-gen consoles. Since Dragon Age: Inquisition will be the first Bioware title to appear on the Xbox One and PS4, fans can expect the upcoming game to be the developer’s most visually impressive title to date.

A new companion character from Dragon Age: Inquisition will be revealed later this month. Starting in March, Bioware announced their plans to unveil a new follower every month beginning with the Orlesian mage Vivienne.
