Gentlemen, while you’re out on the town with the boys looking for some girls, it is quite normal to buy a woman a cocktail or two. But it is also folly. Don’t do it. You are not an ATM, and her gender does not entitle her to free drinks.
The city of Los Angeles is, shall we say, a tad different from the rest of the country. Most of us here work in some way in the entertainment business, so 99 times out of 100, when you go to a bar or club, you are going to bump into someone who is “industry.” This writer’s opinion’s of Los Angeles dating will be saved for another article, but for this one, it must once again be repeated; do not buy women drinks at bars, unless you expect nothing from it.
Why? Well, for starters, she will immediately see you as someone that she can walk all over. She will see you as nothing but a chump. Women are not attracted to chumps. They are attracted to men, not little boys. Many times women will approach you in bars and say, “Buy me a drink.” Your response should be a polite, but firm, “No thank you.” Women are not required to sleep with you, why should you be required to buy them things for no reason?
Indeed, you might be thinking that getting a girl nice and liquored up is a surefire way into her pants. Well, yes, on occasion, that is the case. However, it is more appropriate to let the OTHER morons buy her drinks, and then you swoop in and buy her a cup of coffee. Men who aren’t as smart or clever as you do all the work for you. Not only are you saving your wallet a heap of trouble, you are the “sensitive nice guy” who is looking out for her. That is the way to her phone number, her heart, and maybe, if you are lucky, her bed.
So in conclusion, don’t be like all the idiot guys out there. Be better than them. And don’t tell yourself you can’t. It’s all in the mind. You are in charge.
