Don't be late for the amazing Cemetery Crawl 8

The Arizona spring weather is upon us and that means it is time to get on the road for the amazing Cemetery Crawl 8 heading on the highway on April 6 & 7 2013. This is the 8th year for this two day event that takes you to various historic and haunted cemeteries around Arizona. Part road rally—part scavenger hunt, the Cemetery Crawl explores various historic, haunted locations along the route, too. You never know what might be around the next bend.

The MVD Ghostchasers have kept the crawl moving down the highways since 2005. You just need a team of three or four players—a reliable car, and a good map. You pay for your own gas, food and lodging along the way. Cost is only $30 per team member which includes a cheesy T-Shirt, a lucky gnome, team goodie bag, fabulous silly prizes, and surprises along the way.
Teams will be setting out on an adventure of a life time. It is just a fun way for a group of friends to get together and see Arizona in a whole new way. The amazing Cemetery Crawl 8, or CC8—as we affectionately call it, will be winding its way through another sensational part of Arizona in search of historic and haunted cemeteries off the beaten path.

Just what exactly is the Cemetery Crawl? Well, unlike the Amazing Race, where teams visit five continents and eight countries, the Cemetery Crawl usually stops in five Arizona counties and eight selected cemeteries. Teams received an envelope with directions to a cemetery along with a poetic clue of a specific tombstone they must photograph. After they locate and photograph the correct grave marker, they must show the picture to the “cemetery attendant” who hands them their next clue.

But wait!! There is more! As the teams travel down the Arizona highways, there are several detours and challenges to photograph and complete! Some of the road blocks include taking pictures of historical markers, buildings, or whimsical roadside characters. Sometimes it even includes asking an unsuspecting local to pose in a photo at a popular tourist attraction.

Challenges include visiting grave sites of famous Arizonans or placing a flag on a marker of a US veteran. There are puzzles, tests of memory, map challenges, and a little physical endurance.
We have several past the veteran teams signed on again this year which will offer lots of thrills and chills as the new kids on the block learn the ropes.

This is the 5th Cemetery Crawl for the Ghostie Gecko’s team, the reigning champs—and they are looking for another win. Who will win the amazing Cemetery Crawl this year? Will the Ghostie Geckos keep their vehicle in one piece and pull off another win? Will the Twisted Minds remember to gas up and hold the map right side up? Will the Ghost Runners listen to ‘mom’ and do some more BIG steppin’? Will the Camo’s only do the listed detours on the crawl? Will the new team Taphophile take over the crawl?

You too can be a part of the amazing Cemetery Crawl 8. It is a travel experience designed for the cemetery and history buff in us all. If you and your friends enjoy the scenic back roads of Arizona, cemeteries, and creepy places—and have a slight competitive streak, you just might want to join the APRIL 2013 adventure!
