Don Felder moved from Florida to California, and ended up playing lead guitar with one of the most popular country-rock bands of all time, the Eagles. Not only is he a distinctive guitarist, but he’s also quite a good songwriter. He was the one, for instance, that created an instrumental Don Henley originally dubbed ‘Mexican Reggae,’ which eventually became the iconic song, “Hotel California.”
Felder has also recorded two solo albums, “Airborne” and “Road to Forever,” the second one came out in 2012. You can also hear his solo work on “Heavy Metal: Music from the Motion Picture,” with the songs “Heavy Metal (Takin’ a Ride)” and “All of You.” Felder also wrote “Never Surrender” with Kenny Loggins for the film soundtrack to “Fast Times at Ridgemont High.” In addition to “Hotel California,” Felder’s name is on the writing credits for “Victim of Love,” off the “Hotel California” album.
