A man was killed during a shootout with police after they responded to his Roswell home regarding a domestic dispute Friday night.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the man as Mr. Michael J. Marselle, 45.
The investigation unfolded at 8:40 p.m. when officers responded to 1455 Ridgefield Drive after neighbors called to report hearing multiple gunshots, according to Roswell police.
“When police arrived, they discovered that there was a domestic dispute at the address,” police spokeswoman Officer Lisa Holland said. “The girlfriend ran from the house and was unharmed.
“Her boyfriend was still in the house, and gunfire was exchanged between the police and the boyfriend,” Officer Holland said.
Members of the North Fulton SWAT team arrived along with negotiators, she said. A short time later, officers found the suspect dead inside his home.
Mr. Marselle died of apparent gunshot wounds to the chest and arm, officials said.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has taken over the case. It’s unclear how many officers were involved in the shooting.
