Dolphins quarterback Chad Henne, who many fans blame for the team's current woes, has decided to have surgery on his injured left shoulder and is done for the season, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Matt Moore was already announced as the starting quarterback on Tuesday.
The team is expected to bring in former Giants quarterback Sage Rosenfels as Moore's backup, according the same report.
Efforts to sign former Jacksonville quarterback David Garrard and former Browns QB Jake Delhomme went nowhere.
Henne passed for 868 yards, 4 touchdowns and 4 interceptions this year.
While he has put up respectable numbers throughout his time as the starting quarterback, turning the ball over at critical times in games is what frustrated Dolphins fans the most.
Henne ended last season having thrown 19 interceptions.
Moore is a guy whom Miami coach Tony Sparano has always thought highly of before he was signed as a Dolphin.
"When the light goes on and you put Matt in the game, he tends to move your team pretty good," said Sparano.
"At least that was my history with him in Dallas and that's what happened in the preseason here and really happened the other night."
The other night Sparano is referring to is last Sunday when Henne separated his left shoulder in the loss to the Chargers.
Moore came into the game and completed 17 of 26 passes for 167 yards and a late interception.
Last season Henne injured his knee in a contest against the Titans after replacing former Dolphin Chad Pennington who was named the starter earlier in the week.
Henne eventually returned and finished the season as the helm, but this time around the injury he's dealing with is too severe and he made the decision to call it quits and have season-ending surgery.
