Dolphins playoff scenarios for 2013 still exist. A rough loss on Sunday (Dec. 22) put the 2013 Miami Dolphins playoff scenarios in flux, but at least the team still has a shot at making it to the postseason. The 19-0 loss to the Buffalo Bills couldn't have come at a worse time, especially with the Baltimore Ravens also losing. By simply beating the Bills, the team could be 9-6 and sitting all alone in the No. 6 slot for the AFC. Now Week 17 has to fall exactly right for their season to continue.
Currently it is a three-way tie for the second wild card slot in the AFC. Miami, the San Diego Chargers, and the Baltimore Ravens all have 8-7 records after an odd Week 16 schedule. The three-way tie does benefit the team, as they win the overall tie-breaker. It becomes more problematic if the Week 17 results don't fall in their favor though.
Within all the different 2013 Miami Dolphins playoff scenarios, the easiest one is for the team to beat the New York Jets and for the Ravens to lose to the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 17. That would push them into the postseason and it wouldn't matter what happens in the late Kansas City Chiefs vs. San Diego game. There are other ways that this could play out in favor of Miami as well.
If the team wins and San Diego also wins, the results of the Baltimore game don't matter. So if both teams move to 9-7 in the 1 p.m. ET games, they will both be rooting for different results in the 4:25 p.m. ET San Diego vs. Kansas City game. A Kansas City win would put Baltimore in the postseason and a San Diego win would put Miami into the 2014 AFC Playoffs.
