In the past, almost yearly in the last decade, reports circulate that Parton will perform at the festival. However, this year the claims have intensified due to the fact that the Legends slot on June 29 coincides with an open spot on her tour schedule. Parton will embark on her Blue Smoke World Tour this year and is set to make scheduled stops throughout the UK. She currently has no shows booked for June 29.
Adding fuel to the rumor mill was a story published in The Sun tabloid in December stating she would indeed be headlining in June. An alleged source told the paper that "Dolly is perfect for the Sunday Legends slot [and] she always wanted to play Glastonbury". The source went on to say that Parton is deliberately keeping the date open to perform at the festival and will be flown in by helicopter either Saturday night or Sunday before the show.
Currently the only acts confirmed to perform at the festival are Arcade Fire and Lily Allen. The Glastonbury Festival will take place at Worthy Farm, Pilton in England starting Wednesday, June 25 and ending Sunday, June 29.
